October in Pennsylvania rarely involves snow. Most Halloweens you wonder if it will be so hot that your kiddos will melt in their costumes or so cold that you are trying to squeeze a winter coat under a costume. This year, not so much. We got snow. A lot of it. The bonus was that it left me with some time to sew and the aftermath made for a nice background for my newly sewn fleece animal hats.

Snakes finally finished!
Some projects get off to a quick start and then,well...they sit. This was one of them. I started it last Halloween for my younger son. We love Halloween in our house. When my older son was 4 he received a Halloween quilt. Fair is fair so I set to work on this lovely snake quilt. I got the quilt top done very quickly. It's a pattern I found on an old blog post and emailed the blog owner for the pattern. So what went wrong? I had to add binding. My least favorite part of a quilt. This process, I mean procrastination, took almost a year. It was not until my little guy looked up at me with his big brown eyes and asked me to finish it. I finally did.
Here is the finished, and bound, quilt:
Here is the very happy recipient of the snake quilt.
